Prioritise

When you have so much to do you don’t know where to start – the best place is to stop and take time to plan.

Using a tool like the one below will help you to see where your bottle necks are and where you are focusing your energy.

The tendency is for people to focus on unimportant tasks which can be done quickly which gives the false sense to “getting things done”.

First things first … Important and Urgent tasks need your attention now!  Prioritise those tasks daily – in the morning and afternoon – and focus on the majority of your to-do’s staying in the the Important and Non-urgent area.

This will give you some breathing space to deal with urgent issues as they arise … as they tend to … out of nowhere!  Stop fire-fighting and invest your time wisely in prioritising, planning and scheduling.
